Wac Arts welcomes a new Chair

Wac Arts are delighted to share that Trustee Margaret Gorman has been appointed Chair, effective 24th January, 2025.

Margaret is an artist who is a compassionate leader with a strong understanding of governance. She has a background in HR and finance, and her ability to balance organisational risk with artistic ambitions, makes her an excellent choice for the next phase of Wac Arts’ work.

Responding to her appointment, Margaret commented,

“I am honoured to take on the role of Chair at Wac Arts, an organisation that plays a vital role in nurturing creativity and confidence in young people. As both an artist and a professional, I understand the transformative power of the arts – not just as a form of expression but as a foundation for opportunity and growth. Wac Arts has an exciting future, and I look forward to working with the team to build on its legacy, expand its reach, and ensure that every young person we support can thrive”.

Margaret succeeds Justina Cruickshank who served as Chair for more than 4-years.

Justina shared,

“The past four years have seen the charity face many challenges (a pandemic, a cost of living crisis, and much more). However, what has remained clear is the team’s dedication to providing children and young people with opportunities to learn, be inspired and express themselves through the arts.

I am happy that I leave the charity in a strong financial position with excellent connections with its community, as it continues to fill an important gap in the provision of arts for children and young people”.
