Short Breaks Service
Young people develop skills, work creatively, build confidence and, most importantly, have fun!
In conjunction with Camden Council, Wac Arts offers a Short Breaks service for young people resident in/ or care of the borough. The service is provided for those with moderate physical and learning disabilities up to those with profound and multiple learning disabilities.
The service we provide is multi faceted and covers a range of activities and services. We provide a varied programme with a range of activities, from inspiring artwork, performing arts and social development workshops.
AFTER SCHOOL, saturday & HOLIDAY cLUBS
Wac Arts provides Wonder Wac clubs on Thursdays, Saturdays and in school holidays.
Our Wonder Wac clubs are lead by an experienced facilitator who has designed a progressive programme of creative activity designed to engage and develop the young people. Topics include movement, sensory play, voice work, acting, art, music and other creative topics.
Wonder Wac Clubs are supported by a team of support workers, ensuring each young person has at least 1:2:1 supervision to engage in the sessions.
preparing for adulthood
Matches disabled young people with a worker to access a wide range of social settings and activities to encourage friendships and social interaction.
Young people will be taken out into the community to develop their independence and receive group training sessions around budgeting, travel training and meal preparation skills.
Advocacy
Our advocacy service represents young people who may be non-verbal or looked after with 1-to-1 sessions that use creative strategies to meet the needs of young people. Our advocates attend meetings with the young people assigned to our programme and support with external partners such as social workers and the team around the child.

Wac Arts provides our Inclusion service on behalf of Camden Council.
Wac Arts cannot take referrals or applications directly as places on the service are allocated by Camden’s Children’s Services. If you wish to enquire about the service content, we will happily talk you through the detail of what we provide, however all service referrals and applications should be addressed to Children’s Services at the Camden Council directly or via your social worker.
“The whole atmosphere inspired him to progress in such a positive way, being able to express himself through drama classes and workshops. He also learnt how to play the saxophone. Wonder Wac Arts has been such a lifeline for my son and me.”
